So about half-way through last week it became clear that there was no way that I was going to get my 1-Bit Clicker Jam entry into a playable state by the deadline. It’s fairly typical of me to underestimate how long a project is likely to take, especially when it relies on snatching the odd hour of free time here and there to work on it.
I did want to submit SOMETHING though, so I took a step back and tried to come up with a simple idea that I could hack together in the few hours I had remaining using assets I already had. This gave birth to the amazing Clickshot II Turbo, a quick and dirty one-button shmup that you can play in your browser right now.
It is, naturally, super-simple, but I might go back and tweak it later on. Not a huge amount, but there are some bugs that could be fixed, and the whole thing could be fairer and less random, and could use a bit more diversity.
First, though, I do want to finish Exciting Adventures In Clickable Space. It shouldn’t take too much longer to get it into the state I had envisioned submitting it in, and working on it will be less of a chore now I’m not trying to sprint to a finish line. It’s also a pretty simple game, and the joy of completing a project is such a rarity that I may as well go for it.
After that one is popped off the stack of diversionary projects, it’ll be back to Tensec (I haven’t really mentioned that properly here yet, but it deserves a post soon), then Krnch. Yay for short attention spans!
